Our Story
We entered the industry in 1999 with the purchase of 2 pet males, and then decided fairly quickly to start a breeding program. Each year, we have looked for sires with superior genetics to continually improve our herd quality. In 2008 we purchased our first stud male that was syndicated with Waiheke Alpaca. This was followed by another male in 2009 (Autumn Prince), and 2 more in 2012, (Condor and Mandella)
Because we have a relatively small farm, (9 acres), we maintain a herd of around 40 animals. Fair to say, we are passionate about our animals, interacting with them on a daily basis. This passion extends beyond our farm gate, with hands on training and advice freely given to anyone that buys alpacas from us.
Due to time constraints, we haven’t been active in the show ring until 2012. Our breeding program was rewarded with a 1st place (fawn female 12-24 months) and 2nd place (black male 12-24 months) at the Auckland Easter show, and 2nd place, (black male 12-24 months), at the North Island calibration show.
The future looks really positive for Le Jardin. The creas born in 2012 have taken another giant leap forward from 2011, and we are committed to continue investing in award winning genetics to produce elite animals.
